JERUSALEM, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) -- A Palestinian man was shot dead after injuring an Israeli soldier in a car-ramming attack in the occupied West Bank on Tuesday, the Israeli military said in a statement.
The man drove to a gas station near the settlement of Kokhav Ya'akov in the central West Bank, where he rammed the car into a female soldier and injured her, according to the statement.
"The police in the area began to pursue the suspect after the attack and neutralized him," the Israeli military said. Israeli army usually uses the term "neutralize" to refer to the killing of Palestinians suspected of carrying out attacks.
Israel's Magen David Adom said in a statement that the soldier sustained moderate-to-serious wounds and was taken to a hospital.
The incident was the latest in a wave of violence between Israelis and the Palestinians, sparked by deadly overnight raids by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank. Israel maintains that the raids are aimed at arresting suspects allegedly involved in a series of attacks against Israelis.
