VIENNA (Austria), Sept 22 (NNN-KBC) — Russia and Zimbabwe signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of peaceful uses of atomic energy on the sidelines of the 65th IAEA General Conference in Vienna.

From the Russian side, the document was signed by Russian State Atomic Energy Corporation (ROSATOM) Director General Alexey Likhachev, while Minister of Energy and Power Development Soda Zhemu signed the document on behalf of Zimbabwe.

VIENNA (AP) — A civil trial opened Friday in Austria over the government’s handling of a coronavirus outbreak at an Alpine ski resort during the early stages of the pandemic that relatives say resulted in unnecessary infections and deaths.

The widow and son of a 72-year-old Austrian man are seeking about 100,000 euros ($117,000) compensation from the government in a test case for a larger class action suit involving hundreds of people who fell ill with COVID-19 following a trip to Ischgl in February and March 2020.

VIENNA, Sept 12 (Reuters) - The U.N. atomic watchdog reached an agreement with Iran on Sunday to solve "the most urgent issue" between them, the overdue servicing of monitoring equipment to keep it running, raising hopes of fresh talks on a wider deal with the West.

International Atomic Energy Agency chief Rafael Grossi obtained the agreement in a last-minute trip to Tehran he called "constructive" before a meeting of his agency's 35-nation Board of Governors this week at which Western powers were threatening to seek a resolution criticising Iran for stonewalling the IAEA.

VIENNA Sept 11 (Reuters) - U.N. nuclear watchdog chief Rafael Grossi will fly to Tehran this weekend for talks that may ease a standoff between Iran and the West just as it risks escalating and scuppering negotiations on reviving the Iran nuclear deal, diplomats said on Saturday.

Three diplomats who follow the International Atomic Energy Agency closely said Grossi's trip before next week's meeting of the IAEA's 35-nation board of governors was confirmed.

Others said they had yet to receive word of confirmation.

The IAEA was not immediately available for comment.

08 Sep 2021; MEMO: Iran has produced about ten kilogrammes of uranium enriched to 60 per cent purity, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said yesterday.

The agency condemned what it considered Iran's lack of cooperation in implementing its nuclear programme monitoring mission, saying: "Since February 2021, verification and monitoring activities have been seriously impeded in light of Iran's decision to stop implementing its nuclear commitments" under the 2015 agreement with major international powers.

VIENNA, September 7. /TASS/: Moscow will prevent any impact on the free expression of the Russian people's will during the September parliamentary election, Federation Council (the upper house of parliament) Speaker Valentina Matviyenko said at the Fifth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament on Tuesday.

"Our government agencies and our laws are so effective that we will prevent any kind of interference and impact on the free expression of the people's will," she pointed out.

VIENNA, Aug 27 (Reuters) - A Vienna court on Friday found disgraced former far-right leader Heinz-Christian Strache guilty of corruption and sentenced him to 15 months in jail in a case involving party donations from the owner of a private clinic.

At issue was whether a quid pro quo was involved in two donations to the far-right Freedom Party (FPO) of 2,000 euros ($2,350) and 10,000 euros by Walter Grubmueller, the owner of a Vienna private clinic and a friend of Strache's.
