Mandi (HP), Apr 6 (PTI) A man was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting his minor daughter in Himachal Pradesh's Mandi district, police said on Monday.

The wife of the accused lodged a police complaint alleging that he had sexually assaulted their minor daughter about a month ago while she was away from home, Mandi Superintendent of Police Gurdev Sharma said.

He also threatened the victim with dire consequences if she told anyone about the incident, said the woman, who is a resident of Balichowki tehsil.

Shimla, Apr 6 (PTI) Himachal Pradesh police have booked 97 Jamaat members on various charges, including negligent acts that likely led to the spread of coronavirus and deliberately concealing information from authorities, an official said on Monday.

A majority of them had attended a congregation last month at the organisation's New Delhi centre which has emerged as a COVID-19 hotspot, SP law and order Khushal Sharma said.

Shimla, Apr 4 (PTI) Seventeen Tablighi Jamaat members, who had attended a congregation at the organisation's New Delhi headquarter last month, were booked in Himachal Pradesh on Saturday, Director General of Police Sitaram Mardi said here.

With this, the total number of attendees of the religious congregation booked in the state rises to 30, he added. A total of 14 FIRs have been registered against them for curfew violations and deliberately not disclosing information about having attended the congregation in the national capital, police said.

Shimla, Feb 3 (PTI) A 42-year-old Israeli national was arrested with 2.5 kg charas in Himachal Pradesh's Kullu district, police said on Monday.

Shaul Borov of Jerusalem was travelling in a Delhi-bound private bus from Manali, Kullu Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh said.

He was arrested after the Kullu Police seized 2.5 kg charas from his possession during checking at TCP Bajaura on Sunday night, the SP said.

Shimla, Jan 27 (PTI) A rape accused has been caught eleven days after his escape from Himachal Pradesh's Kullu jail, police said on Monday.

A resident of Tikra Baudi village, Khem Raj was caught by the Kullu police at Pirdi near Beas river on Sunday when he was going by foot to seek help from his friends in Bhuntar, Kullu superintendent of police Gaurav Singh said.

Shimla, Jan 16 (PTI) The Himachal Pradesh government has again suspended Inspector General of Police ZH Zaidi, DGP Sitaram Mardi said Thursday but refused to disclose the reason for the suspension.

When asked why Zaidi was suspended, the DGP said he has been suspended by the home secretary, "talk to him to know the reason why he was suspended". Zaidi was posted as CEO of the state wakf board.

Shimla, Dec 20 (PTI) Himachal Pradesh will sell its share of Yamuna river water to Delhi at Rs 21 crore per annum, an official said on Friday.

An agreement for it was signed between the two governments on Friday.

The agreement was signed between Himachal Pradesh Secretary, Irrigation and Public Health, RN Batta and Principal Secretary of Delhi government Manisha Saxena, the official said.

Dharamshala, Dec 10 (PTI) Twelve people were killed and 39 injured in attacks by stray bulls in Himachal Pradesh in two years, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur informed state assembly on Tuesday.

In a written reply to a question by Hamirpur BJP MLA Narinder Thakur, the CM said 12 people had been killed and 39 injured in 51 incidents of attack by bulls from June 30, 2017, to July 31 this year.

Thakur said the five persons had been killed in Kangra district, followed by three in Hamirpur and Una each and one in Mandi district during the period.

Shimla, Dec 4 (PTI) A 10-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her cousin in Himachal Pradesh's Kullu district on Wednesday, police said.

The incident took place when the girl was going to school, Kullu Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh said.

Shimla, Dec 2 (PTI) The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet on Monday approved signing of an MoU to sell water from the Yamuna, an official spokesperson said.

The state government would earn Rs 21 crore per annum from this decision.
