Roman-era lead coffin found in Gaza

15 Feb 2023; MEMO: The Palestinian Antiquities Ministry yesterday announced the discovery of a Roman-era coffin at the site of a 2,000-year-old Roman Cemetery which was unearthed last year in the northern Gaza Strip

The coffin was made of lead and likely belonged to a prominent Roman official, according to an official from the Antiquities Ministry. Adding that the coding has not been opened.

Israel reinforces Border Guards to speed up Palestinian home demolitions

15 Feb 2023; MEMO: Israel has decided to reinforce the Border Guards in occupied Jerusalem by deploying three army reserve companies in order to speed up the demolition of Palestinian homes, Quds Net News has reported. According to Israeli public broadcaster KAN, the decision in this regard is expected to be approved in the coming days.

Palestinian teenager killed in clashes with Israeli soldiers in West Bank

RAMALLAH, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- A Palestinian teenager on Tuesday died of critical wounds sustained in clashes with Israeli soldiers that broke out in the Far'a refugee camp near the West Bank city of Nablus, Palestinian Health Ministry said.

The ministry said that Mahmoud Al-Aydi, 17, died of his wounds after being shot in the head by Israeli soldiers.

Local sources and eyewitnesses said that an Israeli army force stormed the refugee camp to arrest Palestinians allegedly involved in attacks against the Israeli army in the West Bank.

Situation in Jerusalem affects whole world: United Nations

13 Feb 2023; MEMO: UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that the situation in Jerusalem affects the whole world, adding that there is a pressing need to stay away from unilateral and provocative actions.

In a speech to in Arab League's session in support of Jerusalem, Guterres stressed that the United Nations' position is clear and that the status of Jerusalem cannot be changed through unilateral measures, including Israeli settlement activities.

Abbas to ask UN to grant Palestine full membership

13 Feb 2023; MEMO: Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas yesterday told the Arab League that he is going to ask the UN to grant Palestine full membership, and call on international courts and organisations to protect Palestinians, Wafa news agency reported.

This came during a conference on Jerusalem held in Cairo and attended by several Arab leaders, including Egypt's Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and Jordan's King Abdullah II.

Israel approves plan to arm 'Price Tag' settler gangs in occupied West Bank

07 Feb 2023; MEMO: Israel's extreme far-right government has approved a plan to arm the so-called "Price Tag" settler gangs active in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, Al-Quds Al-Araby reported on Monday. The occupation army is apparently preparing to arm security personnel in the unlicensed settler farming outposts in the occupied West Bank, which are mostly strongholds of the fanatical settler gangs.

Israel postpones home demolition after international pressure

07 Feb 2023; MEMO: The Israeli occupation authorities decided on Monday to postpone the demolition of a Palestinian building which is home to 100 families in occupied East Jerusalem, Israeli media have reported. The building was scheduled by the Israelis to be demolished today.

According to the Jerusalem Post, the building was issued a demolition order in 2015. The implementation of the order has been postponed several times.

Security Coordination With Israel Still Halted, Said Palestinian President

RAMALLAH, Feb 6 (NNN-WAFA) – Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, said yesterday that, the decisions of the Palestinian leadership will continue to be implemented, including halting security coordination with Israel.

Abbas made the remarks, during a meeting at the presidential headquarters, in the West Bank city of Ramallah, with chiefs of Palestinian security apparatuses.

Abbas underlined that the leadership’s decisions, “aim to protect the rights and national interests of the Palestinian people.”

Israeli troops kill 5 Palestinian gunmen in West Bank raid

AQABAT JABR, West Bank (AP) — Israeli forces killed five Palestinian gunmen linked to the Islamic militant Hamas group in a raid on refugee camp in the occupied West Bank on Monday, the latest bloodshed in the region that will likely further exacerbate tensions.

The Palestinian president’s office called the violence a crime, urging the United States to pressure Israel to hold back on its incursions. The military said the raid was meant to apprehend a militant cell that staged a botched shooting attack on a restaurant in a Jewish settlement in the West Bank.
