Palestine: 74% of Gaza reconstruction project complete; UN

27 July 2022; MEMO: The reconstruction of Palestinian houses demolished during the 2021 Israeli bombardment is "continuing," the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced yesterday.

"A total of 364 houses are currently being reconstructed, and about 100 new refugee cases will receive financial aid next week," UNRWA said, noting that "75 percent of the refugees were enrolled in a financial aid programme."

Israel registers Palestinians' properties in occupied Jerusalem for Jewish settlers

26 July 2022; MEMO: Israeli NGO Planners for Planning Rights (BIMKOM) has revealed that the occupation authorities have registered properties owned by Palestinians in occupied East Jerusalem for illegal Jewish settlers, Anadolu reported on Monday. BIMKOM promotes democracy and human rights related to planning issues.

Israeli army kills 2 Palestinians in occupied Nablus

25 July 2022; MEMO: Israeli army killed two Palestinians in northern West Bank on Sunday, the Palestine Red Crescent Society said, Anadolu reports.

In a statement, the humanitarian organization said "two Palestinians were killed by Israeli army's bullets during an operation at dawn on Sunday, in the old city of Nablus."

The two "martyrs" were identified as Aboud Sobh, 29, and Muhammad Al-Azizi, 22, it added.

Palestine: UNRWA Suffers Fiscal Crisis, Needs Int’l Support: Official

RAMALLAH, Jul 24 (NNN-WAFA) – A senior Palestinian official, yesterday announced that, the financial crisis of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), made the agency no longer able to meet the growing needs of the Palestinian refugees.

Ahmad Abu Holi, head of the Refugees’ Department in the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO), said in a press statement that, UNRWA is suffering a financial deficit estimated at about 100 million U.S. dollars, in the budget of programmes related to health, education, and relief for Palestinian refugees.

Palestine Warns Against New Israeli Settlement Plans After Biden’s Visit

RAMALLAH, Jul 18 (NNN-WAFA) – Palestine yesterday warned against Israel’s new settlement plans, after U.S. President Joe Biden’s visit to the region.

Israel’s planning and building committee will convene to discuss plans to build 2,000 settlement units, south-east of Jerusalem, according to Israeli media reports.

Part of the plans was postponed until after Biden’s visit, the Palestinian Foreign Ministry said in a statement, calling it, “an ugly Israeli exploitation of the visit, to deepen and strengthen settlements.”

USA: Biden Voiced Support For Two-State Solution, Pledged Aid To Palestinians

RAMALLAH, Jul 16 (NNN-WAFA) – U.S. President Joe Biden, voiced support for the two-state solution to the entrenched Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and vowed to provide a 300-million-U.S. dollar-aid to the Palestinians, during a short stay in the West Bank city of Ramallah yesterday, as part of his first diplomatic tour of the Middle East.

“As President of the United States, my commitment to the goal of a two-state solution has not changed,” Biden told the joint news conference with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, in the southern West Bank city of Bethlehem.

Hamas slams Saudi decision to open airspace to Israel flights

16 July 2022; MEMO: The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas on Friday slammed the Saudi decision to open its airspace to Israeli flights, Quds Press reported.

"We, Hamas, feel sad following the Saudi decision to open its airspace to the Israeli occupation flights," Hamas spokesperson Jihad Taha disclosed in a statement.

Israel settlers uproot 400 olive trees in West Bank

15 July 2022; MEMO: Israeli settlers yesterday uprooted some 400 olive trees in the northern occupied West Bank.

Ghassan Daghlas, a Palestinian official responsible for the settlement file in the northern West Bank, said that the settlers had uprooted "about 400 three-year-old olive trees in Nablus' western town of Deir Saharaf," adding that the trees belonging to a "Palestinian private property near the Shavei Shomron illegal settlement."

Palestinians hold mass protests against Biden's visit

RAMALLAH/GAZA, July 14 (Xinhua) -- Thousands of Palestinians on Thursday staged demonstrations in the West Bank and Gaza Strip against U.S. President Joe Biden's first visit to Israel and the Palestinian territories, slamming his biased stance on the Israeli-Palestinian issue.

In the coastal enclave of Gaza Strip, ruled by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), hundreds of Palestinians waved Palestinian flags and chanted slogans at the square of the Unknown Soldier in western Gaza city to condemn Biden's visit which started on Wednesday.
