London, Sept 1, IRNA – Russian Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the International Organizations in Vienna Mikhail Ulyanov in a sarcastic Twitter post on Tuesday reacted to the latest US claim about its contributions to the Iranian nuclear deal while trying to force the UNSC to return sanctions on Iran.

He stressed that “all real (not self- proclaimed)” participants of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action are present at the Joint Commission meeting."

Baltic states ban entrance to Lukashenko, 29 more Belarusian officials

Russia: Lavrov says Western allegations of no investigation of Alexey Navalny’s incident untrue

MOSCOW, September 1. /TASS/: The Western countries’ allegations that Russia does not investigate the situation concerning the hospitalization of Russian blogger Alexey Navalny are not true, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said, speaking before the MGIMO students and professors Tuesday.

"We are being accused of not investigating this situation. This is not true. Starting the very day this happened, our Interior Ministry initiated a pre-investigative inspections; the investigation may begin once it determines, what exactly has happened," he said.

COVID-19 case count in Russia exceeds 1 million

MOSCOW, September 1. /TASS/: In the past 24 hours, 4,729 new COVID-19 cases were registered in Russia, which makes the total case count 1,000,048, the operational headquarters told journalists Monday.

According to the HQ, the daily increase rate has stayed below 0.5% for 17 days already.

The lowest case growth rates were registered in the Nenets and Chukotka Autonomous Regions (0%), Chechnya, Moscow and Smolensk Regions (0.2% each), Moscow, the Kamchatka Region, the Khanty-Mansiysk Region, the Tula Region (0.3% each).

France, Germany want constructive dialogue with Turkey over Mediterranean

01 Sep 2020; MEMO: French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian and his German counterpart Heiko Maas expressed their countries’ desire to have constructive dialogue with Turkey over the Eastern Mediterranean hydrocarbon drillings, Anadolu reported yesterday.

During a meeting in Paris, Le Drian claimed that Turkey is violating the territorial waters of two EU member states; Greece and Cyprus, adding that this is “completely unacceptable”.

India leads global rise in new weekly COVID-19 cases: WHO

GENEVA (Reuters) - India reported the most new COVID-19 cases of any country in the past week, its nearly half a million fresh infections pushing the global tally up by 1 percent, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Tuesday.

Overall global new deaths in the past seven days fell by 3% compared to the previous week, the WHO reported, adding that overall new infections around the world rose by 1.8 million.

Belarus poll workers describe fraud in Aug. 9 election

MINSK, Belarus (AP) — Even before the Aug. 9 presidential election in Belarus ended, a poll worker in Minsk said she was asked to sign a document summing up its result, with the vote totals left blank.

Another worker who pointed out violations during the vote-counting was fired on the spot.

In the small city of Vitebsk, a poll worker signed a document with falsified results in favor of President Alexander Lukashenko and later was wracked with guilt for betraying the trust of the voters.
