UK expressed regret at burning of Indian in London

London, Jan 28 (PTI) The UK government Monday expressed regret over reports that the Indian flag was burnt during a demonstration by separatist groups outside the Indian High Commission in London on Republic Day.

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) said it was disappointed that separatist groups had chosen to take such an action, as Scotland Yard confirmed that it was working to establish the exact circumstances around the incident on Saturday.

Russia sees prospects for Turkey, Syria to agree on operation near border

Russian police recover painting stolen in broad daylight

MOSCOW (AP) — Russian police on Monday found the painting that was stolen a day earlier from Moscow’s famed museum of Russian art in broad daylight before unsuspecting visitors.

The painting of mountain ridges by Arkhip Kuindzhi, titled “Ai-Petri. Crimea,” was stolen in front of confused visitors on Sunday evening at the Tretyakov Gallery in one of the most brazen Russian art heist in recent memory.

Italy: Helicopter, plane crash death toll rises to 7

MADRID; 27 Jan 2019; AA: Death toll has risen to seven from Friday's midair collision between a tourist airplane and a helicopter over the Italian Alps, according to Italian authorities on Saturday.

A Prosecutor's Office in Italy said the last two missing bodies were recovered, bringing the death toll to seven which includes French, Swedish and Italian nationals.

The crash also injured two people seriously.

Individual reconnaissance system developed for Russian military

MOSCOW, January 27. /TASS/. Russian armed forces will receive the individual reconnaissance system Glaz (‘Eye’), a mini device with a high-resolution camera launched from a signal pistol, a source in the national defense industry told TASS on Sunday.

"An individual tactical reconnaissance system Glaz was developed for the Russian army, which a mini-device on a parachute, launched from a signal pistol," the source said. "Russian units in Syria made experimental tests of the device," he said.

Jail terms for Austrian far-right group trying to incite coup

26 Jan 2019; DW: The Austrian regional court in Graz, capital of the state of Styria, on Friday jailed the self-appointed president of the "Federation of States" ["Staatenbund"] for 14 years, saying the heavy penalty was a "clear signal that anti-state activities will not be tolerated."

The woman, identified in media reports as Monika Unger, was also convicted of subversion over her bid since 2015 to lead the group said by Austria's domestic intelligence service to number 2,700 members.
