 ATHENS, May 8 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Greece’s coastguard on Sunday said it had rescued 106 migrants including many children from a half-sunken sailing boat on the Aegean Sea.

  A coastguard statement said the migrants were found late on Saturday near the southeastern island of Kos, a short distance from the Turkish coast.

  The group, of various nationalities which were not disclosed, included 14 women and 20 children.

  No other people are considered to be missing in the incident, the coastguard said.

THESSALONIKI, Greece (AP) — Greek authorities say a man who was seriously injured in a fire that broke out in the COVID-19 ward of a hospital in northern Greece has died of his injuries, bringing the total death toll from the blaze to two.

The 52-year-old man who died Thursday had been a patient in the Papanikolaou Hospital’s coronavirus ward when the fire broke out Wednesday morning due to as yet undetermined causes, police said. Firefighters discovered the body of a 79-year-old coronavirus patient at the scene on Wednesday.

LESBOS, Greece (AP) — A Norwegian photographer arrested on espionage-related charges on the Greek island of Lesbos has been released from custody after appearing Monday at a public prosecutor’s office.

The amount was more than double what he paid this time last year when the hotel was not even open. After two sluggish summers, the irony was not lost on him: "We won't make a profit in a good year," he said. "It'll be eaten up by inflation."

LESBOS ISLAND (Greece), March 1 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Greek authorities said Tuesday the bodies of six people believed to be possible migrants have been found off the island of Lesbos, at a time when Athens stands accused of
rights abuses against irregular arrivals.

   The Greek coastguard said four bodies were found on the coast near the port of Mytilene and two others were taken from the water.
