Cambodia: Over 110 Schools In Siem Reap Closed Following First Local COVID-19 Infection

PHNOM PENH, Mar 10 (NNN-AKP) – Cambodian Prime Minister, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, said, all public and private schools in Siem Reap City in northwest Siem Reap province were temporarily closed after a local man was infected with COVID-19.

“More than 110 schools have been closed,” he said in a speech, during the inauguration ceremony of a national road in northwest Pursat province.

He said, the Angkor Sangkran festival, previously scheduled to be held at the Angkor Archaeological Park, to celebrate the Khmer New Year in mid-Apr, was also cancelled.

Israel’s Confirmed Cases Of COVID-19 Reach 50

JERUSALEM, Mar 10 (NNN-MA’AN) – A total of 11 Israelis were tested positive with COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 50, according to the Israeli Ministry of Health.

Among the 11 new cases, seven have recently returned from Europe.

The ministry noted that, passengers who were on the same flights with the seven were asked to undergo quarantine.

The other four cases were in contact with patients previously diagnosed with the virus.

India: Man under observation for coronavirus goes missing from Karnataka hospital

Mangaluru, Mar 9 (PTI) A person who arrived at the airport here from Dubai and was admitted to the isolation ward of a hospital with symptoms of coronavirus has gone missing, sources said.

The patient, who arrived on Sunday, was shifted to the district Wenlock hospital with a high fever and a few symptoms of coronavirus.

PARIS, March 9 (NNN-AGENCIES) — France has banned gatherings of more than 1,000 people to try and slow the spread of COVID-19, the health minister said, while the number of French lawmakers infected with the virus rose to four.

Oliver Veran confirmed the beefed-up measures but said officials would issue a list of events considered “useful to national life” that would be allowed to continue – such as demonstrations.

Covid-19: Cases in US state of New York top 100 after state of emergency declared

NEW YORK, March 9 (NNN-Xinhua) — The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the US state of New York surged to 105 on Sunday, or 16 more than the day before, according to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.

“Sixteen overnight,” said the governor, who declared a state of emergency Saturday over the deadly virus. “We did more tests overnight.”

Cuomo called on the U.S. federal government to expedite their approval of private labs and automated and manual testing to expand New York State’s testing capacity, according to an announcement from the governor’s press office.
