Kisan rally throws traffic in a tizzy in parts of Delhi

New Delhi, Nov 29 (PTI) Farmers from different parts of Delhi who began their march towards Ramlila Maidan Thursday as part of a massive kisan rally planned in the city, sent traffic into a tizzy in some parts of the national capital.

On Thursday morning, farmers arrived at Anand Vihar railway station where they were welcomed by members of Left-backed students' outfit AISA.

Farmers also reached Bijwasan in southwest Delhi and began their march towards Ramlila Maidan.

India: Two Kashmiris killed by Indian Security Forces in Pulwama

Srinagar, Nov 29 (PTI) Two Hizbul Mujahideen militants, both close aides of outfit commander Riyaz Naikoo, were killed Thursday in an encounter with security forces in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

"Based on a credible input about presence of terrorists at Sharshali in Awantipora area of Pulwama district, a cordon and search operation was launched swiftly by security forces in the early hours of Thursday," a police official said.

India: ISRO launches earth monitoring satellite

Sriharikota (AP), Nov 29 (PTI) Adding another feather to its cap, ISRO's workhorse rocket PSLV-C43 Thursday successfully injected into orbit India's earth observation satellite HysIS.

The 30 other co-passenger international satellites including those from the United States of America and Australia among others, will soon be placed into orbit.

The rocket lifted off majestically into cloudy skies in a burst of orange flames at 9.57 am from the first launch pad at this spaceport at the end of the 28-hour countdown.

India: Minor girl raped by juvenile in outer Delhi

New Delhi, Nov 28 (PTI) A seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a juvenile in outer Delhi's Aman Vihar area, police said Wednesday.

The accused took the victim to an isolated area on the pretext of buying chocolates and raped her Tuesday evening, a senior police officer said.

The 16-year-old accused used to live in the same locality and lured the girl in the absence of her parents, who are daily labourers, the officer said.

Azim Premji conferred highest French civilian honour

Bengaluru, Nov 28 (PTI) IT czar and philanthropist Azim Premji was bestowed with the highest French civilian distinction Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur (Knight of the Legion of Honour) here Wednesday.

Premji, who is the chairman of Bengaluru-headquartered IT major Wipro, received the distinction from the Ambassador of France to India Alexandre Ziegler here, Wipro said.

India: 12-year-old raped in Rohini

New Delhi, Nov 28 (PTI) A 12-year-old girl was allegedly raped by three men in a moving car in Rohini's Narela area on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, police said.

Three persons identified as Ravi Kumar, Mohit and Vinod were arrested in connection with the matter, they added.

On Wednesday at around 1.40 am, the police chased a Tata Ace car based on suspicion.

India: CITU slams govt for strategic sale of AIATSL

New Delhi, Nov 28(PTI) The government is privatising national carrier Air India piece by piece after its efforts to do so as a whole failed to take off, the CITU alleged Wednesday.

In a statement, Left-backed Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) alleged that the government has decided to go for strategic sale of 100 per cent stake in Air India's ground handling subsidiary, Air India Air Transport Services Ltd (AIATSL) despite it being a profit making body.

India: Yogi gets legal notice for calling monkey Hanuman a Dalit

Jaipur, Nov 28 (PTI) A right-wing group in Rajasthan has sent a legal notice to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath asking him to apologise within three days for allegedly calling Lord Hanuman a Dalit.

During a poll rally in Malakheda of Alwar district on Tuesday, Adityanath had said, "Hanuman was a forest dweller, deprived and a Dalit. Bajrang Bali worked to connect all Indian communities together, from north to south and east to west".

India: Togadia asks RSS to clarify stand on Ram temple issue

Ahmedabad, Nov 28 (PTI) Right-wing leader Pravin Togadia Wednesday asked the RSS to clarify its stand on the Ram temple issue and sought to know why the Modi government had failed to build the temple so far.

Referring to the Vishwa Hindu Parishad's 'Dharma Sabha' held in Ayodhya on Sunday, Togadia, who has now floated Antarrashtriya Hindu Parishad (AHP), alleged that it might be an attempt to help the BJP in the assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.
