11 April 2022; MEMO: Kuwait has raised the official selling prices (OSPs) for two crude grades it sells to Asia in May to record levels, a price document reviewed by Reuters showed today.

The producer has set May Kuwait Export Crude (KEC) price at $9.30 a barrel above the average of Oman/Dubai quotes, up $4.50 from the previous month.

It also raised the May Kuwait Super Light Crude (KSLC) OSP to $9.65 a barrel above Oman/Dubai quotes, up $3.70.

05 April 2022; MEMO: Kuwait's government submitted its resignation on Tuesday, state news agency, KUNA reported, ahead of a no-confidence vote against the Prime Minister in Parliament, amid a lengthy political feud that has hindered fiscal reform in the Gulf oil producer, Reuters reports.

Crown Prince, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, who took over most of the ruling Emir's duties late last year, received the government's letter of resignation from Prime Minister, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid, KUNA reported.

05 March 2022; MEMO: A Kuwaiti academic delegation left a scientific conference held at the University of Bahrain in protest against the attendance of an Israeli delegation, Al Khaleej reported on Friday.

The Kuwaiti Youth League for Jerusalem posted on Twitter: "The delegation of Kuwaiti universities leaves a lecture delivered by an Israeli from Tel Aviv University held at Bahrain University."

It added: "All salute to the delegation… Normalisation has been and will continue to be tyranny."

16 Feb 2022; MEMO: Kuwait's Constitutional Court today overturned an article of the penal code criminalising the imitation of the opposite sex, in a move welcomed by Amnesty International as a "major breakthrough" for transgender rights in the Gulf Arab region, Reuters reports.

The court said in a statement on its website that article 198 was unconstitutional because it did not provide "objective standards" to identify the offence, and that the general phrasing risked violating personal freedoms.

16 Feb 2022; MEMO: Kuwait's Defence and Interior Ministers, both members of the ruling family, have submitted their resignations to the Gulf State's Prime Minister in protest over recent questioning of ministers in parliament, two local newspapers said on Wednesday, and Reuters reports.

07 Feb 2022; MEMO: Kuwait has banned a new film adaptation of Agatha Christie's whodunnit "Death on the Nile" starring Israeli actress Gal Gadot who is known for her support of Israel's war on the besieged Gaza Strip.

Ministry of Information spokesperson, Anouar Murad, confirmed yesterday to AFP that the film has been banned.

Kuwait's Al-Qabas newspaper said the decision came in response to demands on social media to ban the film.

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 31 (NNN-KUNA) – Kuwait hosted yesterday, the 156th consultative meeting of Arab foreign ministers, to discuss regional and international issues facing the Arab countries.

During a joint press conference with Arab League Secretary-General, Ahmed Aboul-Gheit, Kuwaiti Foreign Minister, Sheikh Ahmad Nasser al-Mohammad al-Sabah, said that, Lebanon’s response on rebuilding trust between Lebanon and the Gulf Arab countries has been received.

04 Jan 2022; MEMO: A video showing a Kuwaiti woman capturing a lion which had escaped has gone viral on social media.

The incident took place in Kuwait City, where environmental police from the Ministry of Interior received a report that a lion was seen wandering the streets in the Sabahiya area sparking panic, the Arab Times reported.

The video shows the Kuwaiti lady, who owns the lion, carrying the cub down the street as it wriggles free. It can be heard growling.
