Russia: Suspects in 3,000 crimes were found in DNA database in 2021

MOSCOW, August 29. /TASS/: Police officers, using a DNA database from January to July of 2021, identified those people involved in committing more than 3,000 crimes, the press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs told TASS.

"For 7 months of 2021, using the federal database of genomic information, information was obtained on the possible involvement of persons in committing more than 3 thousand crimes," the agency's interlocutor said.

Russia registers 19,286 new coronavirus cases in past day

MOSCOW, August 29. /TASS/: Confirmed coronavirus cases in Russia grew by 19,286 in the past day to 6,882,827, the anti-coronavirus crisis center reported on Sunday. The relative coronavirus growth rate equaled 0.28%, the crisis center said.

In particular, 1,318 new coronavirus cases were registered in the past day in St. Petersburg, 914 in the Moscow Region, 523 in the Sverdlovsk Region, 485 in the Rostov Region and 470 in the Perm Region, the latest figures suggest.

Russia: Nord Stream 2 at final implementation stage — Gazprom

MOSCOW, August 27. /TASS/: The Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project is at the final implementation stage, the Russian gas holding Gazprom said on Friday. The project status was reviewed by the CEO of Gazprom Alexei Miller and the CEO of Austria’s OMV Rainer Seele. 

"More than 50-year history of reliable export of Russian gas to Austria was noted. Total supplies since 1968 are over 260 bln cubic meters. Particular attention was paid to the Nord Stream 2 project that is at the final implementation stage," the company said.

Russia records another 19, 492 coronavirus cases

MOSCOW, August 28. /TASS/: Russia’s coronavirus cases rose by 19,492 to reach 6,863,541 in the past 24 hours, the anti-coronavirus crisis center said on Saturday.

According to data from the crisis center, Russia’s coronavirus growth rate was 0.28%.

In particular, St. Petersburg recorded 1,406 new cases, followed by the Moscow Region (849), the Sverdlovsk Region (525), Rostov Region (487).

Russia: Su-24 bomber crashes in Urals, pilots eject — command

MOSCOW, August 27. /TASS/: A Su-24 bomber crashed near the city of Perm in the Urals and its pilots ejected, the press office of Russia’s Central Military District reported on Friday.

"On August 27, a Su-24 plane crashed 95 km west of the city of Perm while making a flight to the Aircraft Repair Enterprise for scheduled repairs. According to the reports from the scene of the incident, the pilots ejected," the statement says.

A helicopter of the search and rescue service has been dispatched for evacuation from the crash site," the press office said.

Russia lifts restrictions on flights to Dominican Republic, South Korea, Czech Republic

MOSCOW, August 27. /TASS/: Russia fully lifts restrictions on flights to the Dominican Republic, South Korea and the Czech Republic starting Friday. A respective decision was made by the anti-coronavirus crisis center in the middle of August. Those are the first three countries, to which Russia has fully resumed flights since restrictions were started to be imposed amid the pandemic, with the remaining countries still covered by the mechanism of flight quota arrangement. Moreover, the center has decided to increase quotas for regular flights to Egypt starting Friday.

Two killed, 15 wounded in suicide bombing at Kabul airport

MOSCOW, August 26. /TASS/: The explosion that occurred at the northern entrance to Kabul’s airport was carried out by a suicide bomber, Sky News Arabia reported on Thursday. According to the news outlet, the blast took place outside the airport.

Al Jazeera said, citing a security source, that at least 15 people had suffered wounds. Afghanistan’s Pajhwok news agency reported that two people had been killed.

Reuters said, citing a US official, that the blast appeared to be caused by a suicide bomb.

Russia: Yakutia forest fires almost completely extinguished — deputy emergencies minister

MOSCOW, August 26. /TASS/: The battle against wildfires in Yakutia is nearing its completion, First Russian Deputy Emergencies Minister Alexander Chupriyan said at a news conference at TASS on Thursday.

"Two days ago I came back from a regular working trip, as the president set a task of extinguishing the fires in Yakutia. This task has been almost completed," he said.
