Russian warship fires warning shots on cargo ship in Black Sea

MOSCOW, Aug 13 (Reuters) - A Russian warship on Sunday fired warning shots at a cargo ship in the southwestern Black Sea as it made its way northwards, the first time Russia has fired on merchant shipping beyond Ukraine since exiting a landmark UN-brokered grain deal last month.

Russia in July halted participation in the Black Sea grain deal that allowed Ukraine to export agricultural produce via the Black Sea and Moscow cautioned that it deemed all ships heading to Ukrainian waters to be potentially carrying weapons.

Russia's moon craft starts processing first data - space agency

MOSCOW, Aug 13 (Reuters) - Russia on Sunday switched on the scientific instruments aboard its lunar lander and scientists began processing its first data as the space craft sped towards the moon in a bid to be first to find ice on the Earth's only natural satellite.

The Russian Luna-25 mission, the first since 1976, is racing against India, which launched its Chandrayaan-3 lunar lander last month, to complete a soft landing on the moon's south pole where scientists believe there are pockets of water ice.

Bank of Russia forecast until 2026 — moderate GDP growth, despite falling oil prices

MOSCOW, August 11. /TASS/: Commodity prices, including oil prices, will fall as a result of deglobalization, but Russia's GDP will not fall below 2020 levels even under a risky scenario, the Bank of Russia reported on Friday.

By 2026, the Bank of Russia intends to achieve 1.5-2.5% GDP growth and bring the key rate to a long-term neutral range of 5.5-6.5%.

Russia thwarts drone attack on Moscow, says defense ministry

MOSCOW, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- Russia's air defense system has downed a drone that attempted to fly over Moscow, the Russian Defense Ministry said Friday.

"This afternoon, an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack with an unmanned aerial vehicle on a facility in Moscow was thwarted," the ministry said in a statement.

The unmanned aerial vehicle was downed by means of electronic equipment and crashed in a forest area in the west of the capital without casualties and damage on the ground, according to the ministry.
