‘Corbyn’s election could bring change for Palestine’: Israel journalist

8 July 2019; MEMO: Veteran Israeli journalist Gideon Levy has claimed that if Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn were elected as British prime minister, major changes would happen for Palestine.

Addressing a packed auditorium at London’s Olympia exhibition centre this weekend, Levy claimed he is “one of those who believe that if the miracle happens and Corbyn is elected in this country [the UK], this can bring about a major change”.

Anti-India banner flies above Headingley stadium during India-Sri Lanka match

Leeds, July 6; GANASHAKTI:  In yet another incident that has political overtone, unnamed aircrafts flew over the Headingley stadium with anti-India banners during the World Cup match between India and Sri Lanka, here Saturday.

Minutes after the match began, an aircraft carrying the banner 'Justice for Kashmir' flew above the ground.

After a half an hour, a similar looking aircraft flew over the stadium with a different banner - 'India Stop Genocide, Free Kashmir'.

UK Conservatives face ballot glitch in contest for new PM

LONDON (AP) — Members of Britain’s Conservative Party have started receiving their postal ballots in the contest to choose the country’s next prime minister, but concerns emerged Saturday that some people have been sent more than one voting paper.

About 160,000 members of the governing party are choosing Britain’s next leader, in a country of 64 million people. They are deciding between Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt and his predecessor in that job, Boris Johnson.

3-D printing recreates ancient sculpture destroyed by ISIS

LONDON (AP) — A figure of a roaring lion, about the size of a loaf of bread, is the latest step in the fight to preserve culture from conflict.

The sculpture is a replica of a colossal 3,000-year-old statue from the Temple of Ishtar in Nimrud, in what’s now Iraq. The stone statue was one of many artifacts from the Mosul Museum destroyed by the Islamic State group after it overran the city in 2014.

England outbatted India to register a 31-run win in a high-scoring game and stay alive in the tournament on Sunday.

Chasing an imposing 338 for win, India could only manage 306 for five, and Kohli lamented his side's inability to accelerate on, what according to him, was a flat track.
