11 Oct 2021; MEMO: The General Assembly of Algerian Contractors, an economic employers' association, yesterday announced that it had decided to boycott the imports of 500 French companies following French President Emmanuel Macron's "harmful comments" about Algeria's history and image.

"We thank all the economic institutions that took the initiative to cut their commercial dealings with about 500 French export and import companies," the body said in a statement.

New Delhi, Oct 11 (PTI) The Delhi government has to depend on costly gas- based power as well as spot purchase at high market rate as the NTPC has halved power supply to the city from the usual 4000 MW, Delhi Power Minister Satyendar Jain said on Monday.

Most of the National Thermal Power Corporation(NTPC) plants are running at 55 percent capacity as their coal stocks are enough for one-two days, he claimed.

Delhi purchases most of its power from NTPC but supply has been halved, Jain told reporters.

New Delhi, Oct 10 (PTI) With states from Delhi to Andhra Pradesh sending warnings of a developing power crisis due to shortage of coal, the central government on Sunday pressed all resources at its command to ensure power plants have enough feedstock to generate electricity.

BEIJING, Oct 10 (APP): The 330 MW Thar Energy Limited (TEL) Power Project in Thar Block-II being completed under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in Sindh province was making steady progress, said a senior Chinese official.

The TEL power plant was a 330MW mine-mouth lignite-fired power project being built by Thar Energy, which was owned by Hub Power Company (Hubco), China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC), and Fauji Fertilizer Company (FFC).

Bhubaneswar, Oct 9 (PTI) The Utkal Chamber Of Commerce & Industry Ltd (UCCI), an association of industries, has urged the Odisha government to ensure adequate supply of coal to state-based industries which are facing an acute shortage of dry fuel to run their units.

In a letter to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, the UCCI Friday said: "We would like to bring to your kind attention the current acute coal shortage situation in the state with many units having stock out or critical coal stock seriously affecting the viable operation of the industrial units."

China's top trade negotiator Liu He called US Trade Representative Katherine Tai to discuss the Phase 1 trade deal, negotiated under the Trump administration, along with the sides' other major economic concerns, according to a statement from China's Commerce Ministry.
