SEOUL, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has convened a key meeting of its ruling party to review state policies this year and prepare for the coming year, the country's state news agency said Wednesday.
The 9th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) started Tuesday in Pyongyang, with WPK general secretary Kim Jong Un in attendance, the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported.
On Tuesday, Kim presided over the plenary session and reported on the implementation of the Party and state policies in 2023, the KCNA said.
Calling this year a year of great change, Kim spoke about the major achievements in socialist construction and the strengthening of national power, the agency reported.
He also talked about the state of the national economy and the progress in science, education, public health and sports over the past year.
Kim also gave an in-depth analysis of the deviations revealed in the implementation of the party and state policies this year.
The meeting agenda included a review of the implementation of the Party and state policies in 2023, objectives in 2024, and the state budget for the years 2023 and 2024.
