AMMAN, June 21 (Xinhua) -- Hundreds of Jordanians took to the street on Friday voicing rejection of upcoming Bahrain workshop and the new U.S. Mideast peace plan known as the Deal of the Century.
The participants called for severing ties with Israel and annulling the peace treaty which Jordan and Israel signed in 1994, at a demonstration held in downtown Amman, capital of Jordan, by the Islamic movement in Jordan.
The participants voiced their rejection of the U.S. President Donald Trump's new peace plan to resolve the conflict between the Palestinians and the Israelis known as the Deal of the Century.
Voicing support for the Palestinians and their steadfastness in the face of the Israeli occupation, the demonstrators called for unified Arab and Islamic efforts and stances against the deal.
The demonstrators voiced their rejection for making Jordan an alternative homeland for the Palestinians and stressed the right of the Palestinian refugees for return and compensation.
Jordan has been repeatedly stressing its rejection of the deal and affirming that it only supports the two-state solution that entails the creation of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital at the borders of 1967.
