KUWAIT CITY, Kuwait, Aug 22 (NNN-KUNA) – Kuwait expressed its support for preserving the unity and sovereignty of Yemen, over the latest developments in Yemen’s southern port city of Aden.
Kuwait is looking forward to efforts exerted by Saudi Arabia, to host talks in Jeddah, between the Yemeni government and representatives of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), Kuwaiti Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Mansour Al-Otaibi, said.
Kuwait hopes that, the final outcome of the talks would lead to the return of security and stability, in a way that preserves Yemen’s unity and sovereignty over its territory, Al-Otaibi said, at a Security Council meeting on the situation in Yemen.
The Aden-based STC previously said, its forces rapidly advanced on the ground and declared full control over the neighbouring province of Abyan.
The STC was part of the Saudi-led Arab coalition to fight the Iran-backed Houthi militias in northern Yemen, in a war that has rekindled old strains between north and south Yemen which were separate countries until 1990.
