TEHRAN, Dec 5 (NNN-IRNA) – Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, Mohammad Hossein Baqeri and visiting Azeri Deputy Prime Minister, Shahin Mustafayev, discussed defence and security cooperation between the two countries.
The two sides vowed to do their best to deepen bilateral relations, especially in defence and security.
Baqeri said that “some of the regional and trans-regional players cannot tolerate friendly relations between Iran and Azerbaijan.”
“Iran views close relations between the people and the armed forces of the two nations as its strategic priority,” he was quoted as saying.
Iran is resolved to pave the ground for creation of more opportunities to promote Tehran-Baku ties.
For his part, Mustafayev said, “Baqeri’s point of views and stances have cemented brotherly relations between the two countries that share common history and culture.”
In Jan, Baqeri visited Azerbaijan, where he and Azeri Defence Minister, Zakir Hasanov, signed a memorandum of understanding, to bolster defence cooperation between the two countries.
