Lebanon’s Newly-Appointed PM Urges All Political Parties, Protesters To Cooperate

Hassan Diab

BEIRUT, Dec 22 (NNN-NNA) – Newly-appointed Lebanese Prime Minister, Hassan Diab, urged all political parties and civil society protesters, to join efforts to save Lebanon from its difficult situation.

“We cannot wait any longer. We need a government of experts. It is time for serious work,” Diab was quoted as saying by Elnashra, an independent newspaper.

Diab’s remarks came, following his visit to different parliamentary blocs for consultations, with regard to government formation.

Diab said that a small government will be formed in the coming few days, to start dealing with the challenges prevailing in the country.

The newly-appointed prime minister said, the next government will represent all of Lebanon and not one political party only.

“My aim is to work on solving the crises in Lebanon,” he said.

On Thursday, Diab won the majority of parliamentary votes to become the new prime minister.

Diab succeeded in securing 69 out of 128 parliamentary votes, to form a new government, which will end 50 days of political stalemate.
