06 Feb 2020; MEMO: Libyan Government Forces said on yesterday that militias affiliate with renegade General Khalifa Haftar had struck the University of Tripoli, Anadolu reported.
“In a new and dangerous violation of the ceasefire, an arbitrary projectile landed near the faculties of agriculture and pharmacy in the University of Tripoli,” a statement issued by the media centre of “Operation Volcano of Rage” said.
According to the statement, no damage was reported as a result of the attack as the projectile did not explode and the bomb squad defused it.
On Friday, UN Envoy to Libya Ghassan Salama told the Security Council that the ceasefire deal in Libya is only ink on paper, counting more than 110 breaches of the deal which was announced on 12 January.
Since 4 April 2019, Haftar’s forces have been launching strikes on Tripoli in an effort to capture the city from the internationally-recognised Libyan government.
