AMMAN, May 28 (NNN-PETRA) – Jordan warned, on Wednesday, that the Israeli annexation of occupied Palestinian territories is a breach of international law and will undermine regional peace.
The remarks were made by Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ayman Safadi, during a phone call with THE United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Nickolay Mladenov, on Wednesday.
Safadi warned against the catastrophic consequences of any annexation, saying, the move will kill the two-state solution and fuel conflict, according to a statement by the minister.
Protecting lasting and fair peace, as well as, international law, requires the international community’s immediate action, to confront the annexation decision, the minister added.
Mladenov briefed Safadi on UN efforts towards convening a meeting of the Quartet on the Middle East, to discuss possible measures, to save the peace process.
