TEHRAN, June 20 (NNN-TASNIM) – Iranian foreign ministry, on Friday, confirmed the death of a fugitive judge in Romania, Press TV reported.
The Iranian judge, identified as Gholamreza Mansouri, apparently fell out of a window, in the Duke Hotel in Romania’s capital, Bucharest, on Friday, according to preliminary reports.
Mansouri had been to Iran’s Embassy in Bucharest, to discuss possible ways to return to Iran, Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Abbas Mousavi, said, Friday.
“We call on Romania’s officials and police, to fulfil their legal duties and present an official report to us about the exact reason of this incident,” Mousavi was quoted as saying.
On June 13, Iranian Judiciary spokesman, Gholam Hossein Esmaeili, announced that the judge, accused of receiving 500,000 euros (559,080 U.S. dollars) in bribes, had been arrested in Romania.
Mousavi said, the dead judge was arrested by Interpol, as a prosecution had been brought against him by Iran’s Judiciary.
