Russia: Emergency situation in Orenburg region district after explosion on Soyuz gas pipeline

MOSCOW, February 23. /TASS/: An emergency situation was introduced in the Ilek district of the Orenburg region, where an explosion occurred on a gas pipeline on Tuesday morning, the first vice-governor, first deputy chairman of the regional government, minister of agriculture, trade, food and processing industry Sergei Balykin told reporters.

"An emergency situation was declared in the area where the explosion occurred on the gas pipeline," Balykin said.

According to him, gas is supplied to all villages of the Ilek and Tashlinsky regions, "although the pressure is falling." Uraltransgaz services have already begun the repair work, the task has been set to eliminate the accident within six hours. "Then, within a few hours, Mezhregiongaz will supply gas to homes. The situation is under control," Balykin said.

The explosion on the Soyuz gas pipeline, owned by Gazprom Transgaz Yekaterinburg, took place in the Orenburg region on Tuesday morning. No one was injured in the explosion.

Rescuers, regional services, specialists of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the region, gas workers, ecologists are working on the site of the explosion.
