HERAT, Apr 20 (NNN-AGENCIES) – Three people, including an assailant, were killed and three others wounded, when a suicide car bomb rocked a police station, in Afghanistan’s western province of Herat early today, the provincial governor confirmed.
“The incident occurred outside the police station of Ghoryan district, in the western part of Herat, roughly at 2:00 a.m. Tuesday, local time,” Governor Sayyed Waheed Qatali, said.
The stricken building, also houses a public uprising forces’ camp, that provides security and protect remote villages and districts around the country, where army and police have limited presence.
Those killed included two camp members and the terrorist aboard the explosive-laden vehicle, the governor said, adding that, one police officer and two uprising forces were also wounded in the explosion.
The force of the blast also damaged the police station and several nearby houses and shops, according to the source.
No group claimed responsibility for the attack so far. However, Afghan officials blame the Taliban militant group for the bomb explosions in recent months.
