Russia reports over 7,800 daily COVID-19 cases, a new low since late September

MOSCOW, April 28. /TASS/: Russia confirmed 7,848 COVID-19 cases in the past day, a new low since September 26, bringing the total case tally to 4,787,273, the anti-coronavirus crisis center told reporters on Wednesday.

The relative growth rate stood at 0.16%.

Moscow registered 1,840 COVID-19 cases while St. Petersburg recorded 723 cases, a new high since March 27. Some 612 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in the Moscow Region, 228 in the Rostov Region, 179 in the Samara and Nizhny Novgorod regions each and 159 in the Voronezh Region.

The number of the so-called active cases or patients who are currently undergoing treatment dropped to 266,808, according to the crisis center.

Recoveries

Russia’s coronavirus recoveries grew by 8,420 in the past 24 hours to total 4,411,098, the anti-coronavirus crisis center told reporters on Wednesday.

Another 1,688 patients recovered in Moscow, 1,087 in St. Petersburg, 474 the Moscow Region. The Pskov Region reported 216 recoveries, the Rostov Region - 204, the Nizhny Novgorod Region - 187, the Voronezh Region - 179 and the Samara Region - 177.

According to the crisis center, recoveries remain at 92.1% of the overall infections.

Fatalities

Russia recorded 387 coronavirus deaths in the past 24 hours, down from 392 the day before, the anti-coronavirus crisis center said on Wednesday. The total death toll has reached 109,367.

In particular, 54 fatalities were reported in Moscow, 34 in St. Petersburg, 18 in the Moscow Region, 14 in the Sverdlovsk Region, 13 in the Samara Region and 11 in the Krasnodar Region in the past day.

According to data from the crisis center, 2.28% of coronavirus patients have died in Russia.
