MOSCOW, June 23. /TASS/: Russia confirmed 17,594 COVID-19 cases over the past day, bringing the total caseload to 5,368,513, the anti-coronavirus crisis center told reporters on Wednesday.
In relative terms, the growth rate reached 0.33%.
The Moscow Region recorded 2,323 coronavirus cases over the past day, a new high since the start of the pandemic. Some 1,092 COVID-19 cases were registered in St. Petersburg, 291 in the Nizhny Novgorod Region 255 in the Republic of Buryatia, 210 in the Republic of Crimea and 209 in the Voronezh Region.
Currently, 335,508 people are ill in Russia.
Moscow daily cases
During the day, 6,534 cases were detected in Moscow against 6,555 the day before, in relative terms, the increase was 0.5%.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 1,307,243 people have been infected in the capital. Also, 3,670 patients were discharged in Moscow per day after recovery.
The number of deaths due to coronavirus in Moscow increased by 88 over the past day, which is a new maximum since the beginning of the pandemic. In total in the city, according to the headquarters, 21,686 people died, or 1.66% of all cases.
Patients' deaths
Russia has documented 548 COVID-19 deaths in the past 24 hours compared to 546 the day before, the highest daily death toll since February 11.
Since the start of the pandemic, 130,895 patients have died from COVID-19 in Russia. The preliminary lethality rate stands at 2.44%.
In the past 24 hours, 93 patients died in St. Petersburg, 22 in the Nizhny Novgorod Region, 22 in Buryatia, 16 in the Sverdlovsk Region, 15 in the Krasnodar Region.
Patients' recoveries
Russia has documented 12,660 recoveries from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, the highest figure since March 13.
In total, 4,902,110 people have recovered in Russia. The share of those recovered has dropped to 91.3% of the total case count.
In the past 24 hours, 1,850 patients recovered in St. Petersburg, 204 in the Voronezh Region, 174 in the Sverdlovsk Region, 137 in the Transbaikal Region, 132 in the Omsk Region.
