Tehran, July 29, IRNA – US is a sanctions addict and it has imposed sanctions on an array of nations more than any other countries in the world, Iran's Foreign Minister said Sunday.
'The record of US foreign relations shows that at any point in the history the most sanctions on the highest number of countries have been imposed by the United Sates,' Mohammad Javad Zarif said in a joint meeting with Iranian ambassadors and heads of missions as well as business persons.
Washington has imposed series of sanctions on Iran on a number of reasons, including the country's nuclear program.
US President Donald Trump, after the unilateral withdrawal from the 2015 Iran Deal, has reimposed sanctions against Tehran.
Trump has also urged allies to halt oil imports from Iran from November.
'The Americans are sanctions addicts, and the addiction has prevented them, even in Obama terms of office, from complying with their obligations,' Zarif said.
They were more concerned with the sanctions they have refused to alleviate, the Iranian foreign minister added.
Under the deal, Iran agreed to curb its nuclear deal in exchange for some economic sanctions relief.
