MOSCOW, April 24. /TASS/: The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Russia grew by 8,446 in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of infected to 18,137,137, the federal anti-coronavirus crisis center reported on Sunday.
In absolute terms the increase in new cases has become the lowest since May 26, 2021, whereas in relative terms it totaled 0.05%.
The number of coronavirus patients taken to hospital in the past 24 hours amounted to 1,352, down by 49.6% compared with the previous day. On the previous day 2,682 coronavirus patients were taken to hospital.
The number of fatalities related to the coronavirus increased by 168 in Russia in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of coronavirus deaths in the country to 374,902, the anti-coronavirus crisis center reported on Sunday.
On the previous day 171 deaths were registered.
The provisional lethality of the disease (the final one can be determined only after the end of the pandemic) remained at 2.07%, according to the crisis center.
As many as 10,508 coronavirus patients recovered in Russia over the past day, bringing the total number of recoveries to 17,474,628, the anti-coronavirus crisis center told reporters on Sunday.
On the previous day 13,030 recoveries were reported.
The share of recoveries remained at 96.3% of the total number of infected, according to the center.
Moscow
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Moscow grew by 584 in the past 24 hours compared with 602 on the previous day, according to the information posted on Sunday on the government’s website, which keeps the public updated on the pandemic situation nationwide.
In relative terms Moscow’s coronavirus cases growth equaled 0.02%. The total number of cases registered in the capital since the beginning of the pandemic equals 2,757,421.
The number of coronavirus-related deaths rose by 18 in the city in the reporting period compared with 15 on the previous day to 43,138. The number of recoveries added 447 in the past 24 hours to 2,564,838.
Moscow Region
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases rose by 356 in the Moscow Region in 24 hours compared with 407 on the previous day, according to the information posted on Sunday on the government’s website, which keeps the public updated on the pandemic situation nationwide.
The total number of cases registered in the region since the beginning of the pandemic equals 968,765.
The number of coronavirus-related deaths added 7 in the Moscow Region in the reporting period, bringing the total number of fatalities to 15,007, while the number of recoveries increased by 302 to 946,042.
St. Petersburg
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in St. Petersburg rose by 587 in the past 24 hours compared with 603 on the previous day, according to the information posted on Sunday on the government’s website, which keeps the public updated on the pandemic situation nationwide.
The total number of cases registered in Russia’s second-biggest city since the beginning of the pandemic equals 1,516,362.
The number of recoveries gained 598 in St. Petersburg in the past 24 hours to 1,477,114, while the number of coronavirus-related deaths increased by 14 to 33,398.
