Kanpur: The STF unit here arrested three smugglers of an international gang smuggling narcotics from Nepal in the early hours of Monday.
Charas worth 4.5 crores were recovered from them, which were to be supplied to the city and adjoining districts.
STF Inspector Shailendra Singh said that Roshan Patel, a resident of Motihari, Ashish Takkar, a resident of Barra, and Shailendra Kumar Soni alias Shilu, a resident of Auraiya, have been arrested.
About 85 kg of charas was recovered from them. All three were smuggling for about a year and a half, it had been reported.
Bolero, bike, 13 thousand 500 rupees cash, mobile, two entry permits to enter Nepal from the Sunauli border have been recovered from the accused.
The police have received inputs about the involvement of Roshan's mother, father and many women and agents in the gang.
The consignment of charas was to be delivered to a person named Laik, who is being searched.
According to STF, Roshan and Ashish had gone to Sunauli border after loading watermelon in Bolero.
After selling watermelon there, he went to Kathmandu.
The charas was loaded from there. After that returned to Kanpur. The charas was hidden in special mines made in the car.
The STF has got information about two dozen accounts in which more than 50 lakh transactions have been done.
