US Convoy Of 30 Tankers Crosses Into Iraq With Smuggled Syrian Oil

DAMASCUS, Aug 14 (NNNABNA) – Amid reports that the US military is systematically smuggling basic commodities out of Syria, a convoy of three dozen tankers, carried thousands of litres of Syrian crude oil from Hasakah, to the semi-autonomous Kurdistan region, in northern Iraq.

Local sources told Syria’s official news agency SANA, that, 30 tankers laden with stolen Syrian oil, entered Iraqi territories, on Thursday, after crossing al-Waleed border post.

More Syrians and Afghans entering EU via Western Balkans

Aug 12 (Reuters) - The number of migrants illegally entering the European Union by crossing the Western Balkans has almost doubled this year, EU border agency Frontex said on Thursday, with the majority coming from Syria and Afghanistan.

Frontex said 22,600 migrants were detected illegally entering the EU via the Western Balkan route from January to July, an increase of 90% compared with the same period in 2020.

In July, the number was up 67% compared with the same month a year ago, Frontex said in a statement.

Turkey, Russia strike deal to continue water supply to north-east Syria

10 Aug 2021; MEMO: Turkish and Russian forces have reportedly agreed on a deal to continue the supply of water and electricity to north-east Syria, following months of delays and interruptions to the supply.

According to reports by Turkish media outlet Anadolu Agency and Russian outlet TASS, the Allouk water station located in Syria's north-eastern province of Hasakah will resume its service while electricity supplies to territories controlled by Turkish forces will also increase.

US Military Relocated 40 Daesh Terrorists From Prisons To Base In Northeastern Syria: Reports

DAMASCUS, Aug 9 (NNN-SANA) – US military have transported 40 terrorists of the Daesh terrorist group from prisons, to its base in the northeastern province of Al-Hasakah, Syrian state media reported.

According to the SANA news agency, the terrorists were sent from the prisons of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) to the US base in the city of Ash Shaddadi.

Russian military police help people after bus accident near Damascus

DAMASCUS, August 8. /TASS/: Russian military police administered first aid to people hurt in a road accident involving a passenger bus in a Damascus suburb, the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the Opposing Parties said on Sunday.

"Russian military police were on a patrolling mission in the province and were the first to come to rescue after a road accident. They administered first aid to the bus passengers before medics arrived. They released people blocked in the bus, evacuated women and children because the vehicle could catch fire due to a fuel leak," it said.

Syrian president asks PM to form new cabinet

DAMASCUS, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on Sunday renamed Hussein Arnous as prime minister and ordered him to form a new government, according to the state news agency SANA.

The order came after Assad took the oath on July 17 for his fourth term in office after winning the presidential elections in May.

Assad originally named Arnous as prime minister in last August to replace Emad Khamis, who was sacked in June 2020 as the Middle East country grappled with an economic crisis and plunging currency.

Syria: Children in once-Daesh-capital Raqqa still living in ruins four years after battle

RAQQA (Syria), July 28 (NNN-AGENCIES) — Four years after the battle for the northern Syrian city of Raqqa, children and families are still living in damaged homes with severely limited access to clean water, electricity, and education, a report by Save the Children has found.

Raqqa, once the self-styled “capital” of the ISIL (ISIS) group in Syria, was subjected in 2017 to a heavy air and ground offensive by the US-led coalition to defeat the group and gain control of the city.

Syrian Forces Bring Reinforcement To Daraa After Deal With Armed Men

DAMASCUS, Jul 26 (NNN-SANA) – The Syrian forces yesterday brought reinforcement to its positions in Daraa province, in southern Syria, following a deal with the armed men there, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported.

Parts of the military reinforcement was sent to the city of Daraa, while the others to areas in the western countryside of that province, which was the birthplace of the anti-government movement in 2011, it said.
