BISHKEK, Oct 15 (NNN-KNA) – Members of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), signed 16 cooperation agreements, to increase interaction within the organisation, after a summit was convened here under the chairmanship of Kyrgyz President, Sadyr Japarov.

BISHKEK, October 13. /TASS/: Russia will do everything possible to foster interaction between the CIS and friendly countries, as well as with the CSTO, SCO, EAEU, and BRICS, according to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"Russia, of course, will continue to make every effort to develop the Commonwealth's contacts with friendly states and international organizations," he said.

BISHKEK, Oct 13 (Reuters) - Russian President Vladimir Putin cautioned Israel on Friday against laying siege to Gaza in the same way that Nazi Germany besieged Leningrad, saying a ground offensive there would lead to an "absolutely unacceptable" number of civilian casualties.

Putin said Israel had been subjected to "an attack unprecedented in its cruelty" by Hamas militants, but was responding with cruel methods of its own.

BISHKEK, October 12. /TASS/: Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov has signed a law that ratifies the agreement with Russia to establish a joint air defense system, the presidential office said in a statement.

According to the statement, the ratification of the agreement reaffirms the commitment of Kyrgyzstan "to strengthen strategic relations with Russia and contributes to the development of continued cooperation in the field of defense and security between the two countries."

Kyrgyzstan (AP) —President Vladimir Putin arrived in Kyrgyzstan on Thursday on a rare trip abroad for the Russian leader who was indicted earlier this year by the International Criminal Court for war crimes in Ukraine.

Putin met with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov and was to take part on Friday in the Commonwealth of Independent States summit, which Kyrgyzstan is hosting. Leaders of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan will also attend the summit.

BISHKEK, Mar 12 (NNN-KNA) – President Sadyr Zhaparov of Kyrgyzstan, on Friday, met with visiting Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO), Imangali Tasmagambetov, the press service of the Kyrgyz President reported.

During the meeting, they exchanged views on issues of ensuring regional security and stability, as well as, priority areas of interaction within the organisation, the report said.

BISHKEK, March 10. /TASS/: In 2023, Kyrgyzstan will host the CSTO’s peacekeeping exercise Indestructible Brotherhood, President Sadyr Japarov said at a meeting with CSTO Secretary-General Imangali Tasmagambetov in Bishkek on Friday.

BISHKEK, December 9. /TASS/: CIS leaders have agreed to hold an informal meeting in St. Petersburg before the New Year, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a summit in Bishkek on Friday.

"Aside from our work today I’d like to remind you that we are expecting you at the agreed upon informal meeting of CIS leaders in St. Petersburg before the New Year," the president told his counterparts at the Eurasian Economic Union summit.

BISHKEK, Oct 15 (NNN-KNA) – Seven people have died in a traffic accident, in southern Kyrgyzstan’s Jalal-Abad Oblast, the regional traffic safety department said, yesterday.

The accident occurred at the Ala-Bel pass, of the Bishkek-Osh highway, which connects the north and south of the country. The collision, between two vehicles, also left two people injured.

Statistics show that, since the beginning of the year, 4,972 road accidents have occurred in Kyrgyzstan, killing 477 people in total.

BISHKEK, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- The parliament of Kyrgyzstan elected a new speaker, Nurlanbek Shakiev, at a meeting on Wednesday.

According to the results of a secret voting, Shakiev, 45, was elected speaker of the parliament with 80 deputies in favor and six against.

Shakiev was elected a deputy of the parliament of the 7th convocation in 2021. He is the leader of the Ata-Zhurt Kyrgyzstan faction.
