UN Security Council calls for ‘full adherence’ to Gaza cease-fire; focus on two-State solution

UNITED NATIONS, May 23 (APP): The United Nations Security Council has called for the “full adherence” to a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas-led Palestinian fighters in the bombs-battered Gaza Strip.

The 15-member council reached the required full consensus Saturday afternoon to issue an official statement after earlier attempts at a shared declaration were blocked by the United States during the 11-day conflict in which 242 Palestinians killed, including 23 girls, 43 boys, 38 women and 138 men.

Pakistan reaffirms support to Kashmir cause; will not barter away Kashmiris’ rights: FM Qureshi

NEW YORK, May 22 (APP): Pakistan will negotiate to find a solution of the decades-old Kashmir dispute, but will not barter away the inalienable rights of Kashmiri people, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi told a gathering of Pakistani-Americans on Friday.

He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan was deeply committed to the just cause of the Kashmiris and that his stand on the issue was unequivocal.

UN experts welcome cease-fire in Gaza and Israel; call for ICC probe

UNITED NATIONS, May 22 (APP): UN human rights experts on Friday called on all parties to respect the new cease-fire between Palestine and Israel and urged an investigation by the International Criminal Court into attacks on civilian populations and other gross violations of human rights.

The experts, in a joint statement, pointed to the forced evictions of Palestinian families living in Sheikh Jarrah and Silwan in occupied East Jerusalem as the spark that set off a full-blown war.

NEW YORK, May 20 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. East Coast witnessed the arrival of a record-breaking container ship on Thursday morning amid booming international shipping business.

CMA CGM Marco Polo, with a maximum capacity of 16,022 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU), arrived at Elizabeth Port Authority Marine Terminal in New Jersey as the largest container ship ever to call at any U.S. East Coast port, said a release by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.

Pakistan slams Israeli aggression in Gaza, calls for international protection force to safeguard besieged Palestinians

UNITED NATIONS, May 20 (APP): Pakistan Thursday urged the UN General Assembly to call for a halt to the Israeli aggression in Gaza and demand concrete steps to safeguard the besieged Palestinians, including deployment of an international protection force in the occupied territories.

“We should deploy an international protection force,” Foreign Minister Shah Mahmoud Qureshi told a special session of the 193-member Assembly, pointing out such a force was called for in General Assembly Resolution ES-10/20 and demanded by the Islamic Summit Conference on 18 May 2018.

UN Human Rights Commissioner's 'concerns' over attacks on Palestinian citizens

UN Official Calls For Humanitarian Pause In Violence In Israel, Gaza

UNITED NATIONS, May 19 (NNN-AGENCIES) – UN Undersecretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs, Mark Lowcock, yesterday called for a humanitarian pause in the escalating violence in Israel and Gaza.

“I call on all parties to the hostilities to agree to a humanitarian pause, to allow for emergency humanitarian relief distribution and for civilians to purchase food and water, seek medical care and attend to other emergency needs,” the UN humanitarian chief said, in a statement.
