NEW YORK, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Thus far in 2022, reported hate crimes are on the rise in Chicago, the third largest city of the United States, particularly those based on race and religion with Blacks at 50 percent and Jews 75 percent, according to official data.

"The fear runs deep through some of Chicago's most prominent communities: Black, Asian, LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender), and Jewish," said ABC7 in its report of the data from the city's Commission on Human Relations.

Andrew Wylie, who represents literary giants such as Saul Bellow and Roberto Bolano, described the extent of the injuries Rushdie suffered in the "brutal" attack in an interview with Spanish newspaper El Pais.

One in nine children in flood-hit Sindh, Balochistan suffering from acute malnutrition: UNICEF

UNITED NATIONS, Oct 22 (APP): The United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, Friday warned that in the flood-impacted areas of Pakistan’s Sindh and Balochistan provinces, more than 1 in 9 children under five admitted to health facilities were suffering from severe acute malnutrition.

They say estimates based on the pre-existing malnutrition prevalence indicate that close to 1.6 million children could be suffering from malnutrition and in need of urgent treatment in the areas impacted by the floods.
