06 October 2023; MEMO: Israeli forces fatally shot two Palestinian men this yesterday after attacking their vehicle during a raid near the village of Shufa, south of the occupied West Bank city of Tulkarm.
According to Wafa news agency, the Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that Huthayfah Fares, aged 27, and Abd Al-Rahman Atta, aged 23, were shot after the occupation army stormed the refugee camp in Tulkarm and deployed snipers in several places.
Five Israeli officers sustained injuries when they were struck by shrapnel from a hand grenade that was thrown by one of their colleagues. According to the Times of Israel, three of the officers were seriously wounded, while the remaining two suffered moderate injuries.
Al Jazeera’s Nida Ibrahim, reporting from Ramallah, said that Israeli forces prevented medical aid from reaching the scene and then “took” the bodies as “a part of an Israeli policy to withhold the bodies of Palestinians believed to have committed attacks against Israelis and Israeli soldiers.”
Additionally, medical sources from Thabet Thabet Governmental Hospital reported that two other Palestinians sustained injuries from bullets fired by the occupying forces, with one wounded in the shoulder and the other in the abdomen. Both individuals are currently in stable conditions.
More than 200 Palestinians have been killed since the start of 2023, in what the United Nations said is the deadliest year for Palestinians since it began documenting fatalities in 2006.
