ISLAMABAD, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- Two Pakistani soldiers and five terrorists were killed during an intelligence-based military operation in Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province, the military said in a statement.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan army, said Monday that the operation was conducted in Zhob district of the province to clear a hideout of terrorists.
During the conduct of the operation, terrorists were surrounded and after an intense exchange of fire, five terrorists were killed, the ISPR statement said, adding that in the ensuing exchange of fire, two army personnel including a senior officer, who was leading the operation from the front, were killed.
Sanitization of the surrounding areas is being conducted to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area, it added.
The Pakistani military said that the sacrifices of soldiers further strengthened the nation's resolve to uproot the menace of terrorism from the country.
