TEHRAN, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- The Iranian Foreign Ministry has condemned the recent Israeli attack in southern Lebanon, where a vehicle carrying journalists was hit, resulting in one death.
In a statement released on Saturday, the ministry extended condolences to the victims' families and the journalists' community.
Issam Abdallah, a Lebanese journalist working for Reuters, was killed, and six other reporters from international agencies, including Agence France-Presse (AFP) and Al-Jazeera TV channel, were injured on Friday evening in Israeli attacks on Lebanon's southern village of Alma al-Shaab, Lebanese TV channel MTV reported.
According to MTV, the injured people had been transferred to hospitals.
The tension on the Lebanese-Israeli border escalated after the Lebanon-based armed group Hezbollah on Oct. 8 fired dozens of missiles toward Israeli military sites in support of attacks by the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) against Israel launched on the morning of Oct. 7.
