Tehran, IRNA- Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian has warned that war fronts will likely expand if Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip do not stop.
“If the attacks by the Zionist regime on Gaza do not stop, the expansion of war fronts is likely, and the possibility of this increases every hour,” Amirabdollahian said in an interview with Al Jazeera.
Iran’s top diplomat added that a message has been sent to the Israeli regime through its allies that if its atrocities do not cease in Gaza, “it will be very late tomorrow".
Amirabdollahian expressed hope that political efforts would prevent the escalation of war; otherwise, “no one knows what the next hour might bring.”
Iran cannot stand idly by and watch this situation unfold, he further warned.
His comments came during his visit to Qatar where he met senior Qatari officials, as well as head of the political bureau of the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, Ismail Haniyeh.
Before leaving Doha as the last destination of his regional tour, Amirabdollahian said the Islamic Republic has been invited to participate in an extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to be held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to address the situation in Gaza.
“We will actively participate in this meeting,” he told reporters.
The death toll in Gaza has surged past 2,300 as the Israeli regime continues to pound the besieged enclave by air, land and sea.
