Agra: Commemorating the birth anniversary of Hindu Mahasabha leader Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha on Tuesday distributed knives to students from class X and XII.
According to a report in The Times of India, Hindu Mahasabha spokesperson Ashok Pandey said that Savarkar’s dream was “Rajniti ka hindukaran and Hinduo ka Sainikikaran”. “Modiji has fulfilled the first part of Savarkar’s dream with his landslide victory in Lok Sabha pols. We are now fulfilling the other part by distributing knives and creating Hindu soldiers”, he said.
If Hindus want to protect themselves and their nation, they should learn how to use weapons,” he added.
Earlier in the day, in a tweet, Modi, said, “Veer Savarkar epitomises courage, patriotism and unflinching commitment to a strong India and he inspired many people to devote themselves towards nation building”. Many other BJP leaders including LK Advani, Sumitra Mahajan also paid tribute to ‘freedom fighter’, reported The Times of India.
