Kanpur: The customers do not feel fine if the chairs marked for senior citizens are more often seen occupied by the agents on the upper floor of the Head Post Office here. Its building exists at the city's prime place that's why there remains ample crowd at the post office.
When the nailed board on the wall specifically describes the arrangement of the chairs for elderly, the strictness is not followed, said an elder person who was requiring rest till the time the clerk was not available at his counter.
The agents were looking at the weary customer but did not show enough decency in providing some space so that he could stop panting.
Several others were critical of the agents' occupancy. They were present for helping the customers but they annoy the old and aged persons by their haughtiness. Reacting on this trend, a well-dressed man stated that the postal department authorities seem to have closed their eyes towards this problem.
More than this the female agents also give little consideration in giving space to the women approaching the seat for some relief after alighting several steps.
Meanwhile, the situation at the sub-post office in Harjinder Nagar area was also not too better. The counter where the clerk engages himself in the book-post service was not found seated all the time. The customers start waiting for him in the queue. They fear if the power connection gets cut the chance to send the letters or the packets through fast mail will be lost. The counter clerk seldom returns changes to the customers. There remains enough crowd of the people seeking aadhar card at this small sticky spaced post office. Despite the computerized system the quick disposal of the work did not stay and the officials present only look at the harassed customers.
