The global warming has disturbed almost all of the world and creatures living on the earth. Pakistan is one among few countries who got a direct and hard hit by global warming. Dry and hot weather is becoming a serious issue for Pakistan. Pollution is also playing its role to increase the consequences of the climate change. Meanwhile cutting of forest from Pakistan nailed the process.
The previous governments neglected this issue and failed to take remarkable decisions to protect the country’s environment. During the Nawaz Regime (2013-2018), it was Imran Khan’s led PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf) government in KPK (Khyber Pukhtoon Khwa) province and there they successfully started and completed the “Billion Tree Tsunami”.
“Billion Tree Tsunami”, in KPK was a provincial government project that has seen a total of 300 million trees of 42 different species planted across KPK. The project has been praised by many international organizations.
After being elected as the new Prime Minister in July 2018, Imran Khan continued his work on the vision of a better and safer environment and started “Plant for Pakistan” one day plantation drive. On that day the Prime Minister tweeted “Today we launch our tree plantation drive #Plant4Pakistan across the entire country. I want everyone to join this #GreenPakistan drive so we can counter the twin threats of climate change and pollution confronting our future generations”.
As the majority of Pakistan trust and admire Mr.Khan, they actively participated in the plantation drive across the country. Male and female, young and old, poor and rich, all joined the drive and made it possible to plant 2.5 million trees in one day, going beyond the target of planting 1.5 million trees.
Together we will save the environment, the people are energetic and aimed to support and facilitate the government. Pakistanis are hopeful that they will soon witness a “GREEN PAKISTAN”.
