India: Army jawan arrested for taking part in robberies

Muzaffarpur, Oct 26 (PTI) An Army jawan was arrested in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district for taking part in robberies, a senior police officer said Friday.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Manoj Kumar said a police team arrested Army jawan Pushpraj Kumar from Madhopur Susta village on Thursday while he was planning to execute another dacoity.

The police team seized the jawan's Army ID card, his driving license during the raid, SSP said adding that on the basis of ID card, it seems that the person arrested is an Army jawan but police have sent the ID card for verification to find out whether he is actually an Army jawan.

The team also seized a car, four ATM cards, which were looted in the past 48 hours in the district, SSP said.

Pushpraj Kumar, a resident of Sabalpur Babhantoli village of Saran district, was posted as an Army jawan in Nasik, the SSP said.

The SSP said that Pushpraj used to come on leave from Army camp but instead of going to his home, he used to join his group members in Muzaffarpur to take part in robberies.
