Kanpur: Apprising of the facts in regard to the maktab education in Medina, the young head Imam Usman said the primary education in Arabic was no different in our places from those imparted at the city of Saudia Arabia. What differentiates was the language. We impart a great deal of knowledge in purely a Quranic script while the type of language taught at the far-off Medina remained completely distinct.
He further said they are acquainted with the Arabic language so what we speak before them appear totally different to them. We find no difference in the pattern of maktab education taught at here or there.
As we know the Arabic language, one among the so many Semitic languages, is classified into three different forms: Classical Arabic, Modern Standard Arabic and Dialectical Arabic, the first one also known as Quranic Arabic are more common in literature and writing. Different dialects bring a difference in speaking the language.
The Imam was also clear in stating that the classes run in the same way in Medina as we have formulated for our country. Masjid Nabwi is a big mosque so the students belonging to distinct areas in that city attend separate classes in its precincts.
Squatting in the main hall of the upper floor mosque in Jajmau area here, Imam looked calm and composed. Though his associate Maulana Owais was also present in the hall, there was no exchange of the words between them. They were actually waiting for the guardians' arrival at the parents-teacher meeting fixed for Sunday morning.
