BISHKEK, April 2 (Xinhua) -- A new vice prime minister and a new health minister have been appointed in Kyrgyzstan, according to the decrees signed by President Sooronbai Jeenbekov on Wednesday.
Aida Ismailova will hold the post of vice prime minister for social affairs, and Sabirzhan Abdikarimov will serve as the health minister, the president's press service said.
Earlier, the Kyrgyz Parliament approved the two nominees recommended by Prime Minister Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev.
Aida Ismailova is the current deputy of the parliament, and Sabirzhan Abdikarimov previously held the position of director of the Republican Center for Quarantine and Highly Infectious Infections.
The new appointees were also members of the Republican headquarters on coronavirus infection, which was established on Jan. 25.
Earlier Wednesday, Jeenbekov signed decrees removing the country's vice prime minister Altynai Omurbekova and health minister Kosmosbek Cholponbaev from office.
According to the health ministry, at least 116 COVID-19 cases have been recorded in Kyrgyzstan so far.
