Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh were BJP’s heart land. But the party has been thrown out in all the three states.
With the exception of 1 seat in Rajasthan, all the election results in three states are out, and Congress is the leading party in all those states.
Voters were ruthless when deciding; not who should get their votes, but who must not get it. BJP’s Chanakya and Master Election Planner Amit Shah, ‘Star Campaigner’ Yogi Adityanath and Charismatic orator Narendra Modi could not help. Their trump card (Ram mandir) didn’t work either.
Rahul Gandhi addressing a press conference said that "I was telling my mother that the absolute best thing for me was the 2014 election. I learnt a lot from that election. I learnt that the most important thing is humility,". The 48-year-old Congress chief took a lot of the blame for the party's non-stop election disasters. "Frankly Narendra Modi taught me the lesson- what not to do,". He "failed to listen to the heartbeat of the nation." Mr Gandhi added.
"Modi government has been like a soda bottle. The fizz has gone. Woh lehar qehar ban gayi hai, aam logon ke liye zehar ban gayi hai," Sidhu said, in his inimitable andaaz.
Prime contender for the post of Rajasthan chief minister, Ashok Gehlot said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders made issues out of non-issues and disrespected the people of the nation.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh, who claimed Chhattisgarh’s road are better than American roads, has tendered his resignation to Governor Anandiben Patel.
“I think we forgot the issue of development that Modi took up in 2014. Ram Mandir, statues & name changing became the focus” tweeted Sanjay Kakade, BJP Rajya Sabha MP at #AssemblyElectionResults2018
"Victory and defeat are an integral part of life. Today's results will further our resolve to serve people and work even harder for the development of India," PM Modi tweeted.
Many see these election results as a sign of what is to come in 2019 parliamentary election. Some consider it as a victory of democratic values. And yet, some see it as a light after 4 years of darkness.
Loss of these elections is a message for BJP, that Indian voters can not be fooled for too long with mandir-masjid or shamshan-kabristan distractions. They do eventually see the real issues - the crucial issue - that BJP promised to deliver, but could not.
Their policies, almost every one, has been a disaster for the nation. Government treasury is almost empty. Many banks are almost bankrupt. Government is now resorting to grab money from the reserves of the Reserve Bank of India -the money that is kept for the rainy-day.
Everyone who questioned their uncanny policies was called a desh-drohy, and asked to go to Pakistan. Now the voters have rejected the party. Are the voters 'desh-drohi', or the BJP, which has divided the country and made it bankrupt?
So there are some cheeky demands out there; after losing these elections, BJP and the lot should be sent to Pakistan.
