India: UPMRC & NN ponder over use of extracted ground soil

Kanpur: How will the ground soil being dug up to lay underground metro track from Motijheel to Transport Nagar be used? This question disturbs the authorities concerned after the UPMRC has sped up its work on the city's second priority path.

As the work is in progress the dust on the road near Motijheel remains visible. It is being supposed that as many as 5 Lakh cubic meters of soil will be taken out by the help of tunnel boring machine.

When the UPMRC officials contacted the Nagar Nigam engineers, the proposals started coming.

There were suggestions to dump the soil at low lying areas, or uneven grounds or underdeveloped areas.

Proposals to use the soil in levelling the parks were also received.

The Zone-2 executive engineer suggested the vacant site available in Hanspuram. The KMC Chief engineer Kailash Singh also said that the consideration to dump the soil on this location ably continues.
