India: Flower business fades its aroma during lockdown

Kanpur: The business related to the flower decoration has stopped in the city. The decorators large in numbers have even left it. They are either selling vegetables or eggs or running tea stalls. The main reason behind leaving the work was the borrowings taken from the moneyed. The little prospect stays because the sale of bouquets goes on.

According to an estimate, more than 500 flower traders exist in the city but as many as 100 have said goodbye to this business.

This is clear from the flower bazaar arranged at a open wide space in Cantt area. This market used to run in the morning.

One can fathom the difference of aroma of natural rose and artificial rose by visiting at the mark here.

The sellers maintain the condition of the rose by pouring cold water.

The decorators are still hopeful as the approaching months looks quite helpful for the marriages are fixed during these days.

If we receive orders from the parties, there remains a big challenge to fulfil the supply on time, said, one decorator.

Though there are continuing farming of the rose in the rural areas of the district, other flowers like lily, sunflower, red rose and others are coming from Pune Delhi and Bengaluru.
