JERUSALEM, Nov 26 (NNN-MA’AN) – Israeli police shot dead a Palestinian man yesterday, whom they alleged, tried to carry out a car-ramming attack against security forces, outside Jerusalem, Israeli authorities said.
The incident took place at the az-Za’ayyem checkpoint, in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.
Police spokesman, Micky Rosenfeld, said, the suspect arrived at the checkpoint with his car in the afternoon. During a routine security check, he “drove towards border police officers that were on guard.”
Rosenfeld said, in response, security forces at the checkpoint opened fire at the vehicle.
The suspect presented false documents at the checkpoint and pretended to be another person, according to a statement issued by the Border Police.
He was taken to the Hadassah Mount Scopus Hospital. An hour later, the hospital confirmed he was dead.
Rosenfeld said, an Israeli police officer was lightly injured in the incident and taken to hospital.
