LA PAZ, Jan 14 (NNN-Prensa Latina) — Bolivia Wednesday signed a contract with India’s Serum Institute to purchase five million doses of AstraZeneka vaccine to combat Covid-19, according to President Luis Arce.
The President stated that with the previous purchase of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V and now with the AstraZeneca vaccine, the entire population of the country will be able to be immunised.
He highlighted that antigens are part of the comprehensive solution to the scourge of the pandemic, and today – he said – the national government is working for the health of Bolivians with this contract.
The first batch – which will be of one million doses – is committed for next April as part of the plan of containment and response to the pandemic, and the rest of what has been agreed will gradually arrive.
With the arrival of these antigens, there is a wider portfolio for the immunization of citizens, since the arrival of 5,200,000 doses of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V has already been confirmed.
