24 May 2021; MEMO: Director-General of the Palestinian Police in the Gaza Strip, Mahmoud Salah, said police forces had neutralised nearly 300 unexploded shells and missiles that had fallen on the Palestinians' homes during the recent Israeli aggression on the besieged enclave, Anadolu reported.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Salah said the bomb disposal technicians are still working to neutralise other unexploded ordnance despite their limited technical capabilities.
He added that the Israeli occupation bombed the police headquarters to discourage them from providing their services, "but the police did not hesitate to participate in confronting the occupation".
"The [Israeli] occupation failed miserably in destabilising our security and threaten our internal front, and the police officers remained steadfast in their positions, providing service to our people," Salah said, adding that the police personnel contributed to "providing relief assistance to our people, and providing the appropriate atmosphere for rescue teams and crews, who worked to protect the lives and properties of citizens."
Salah said a number of policemen had been killed or wounded while carrying out their duties during the Israeli bombing campaign.
